<logic>The Operational Boundary (Opbdys) is a logical construction based on parcel ownership and management information maintained by the Division (was Office) of Acquisition and Real Property Services (OARPS). In geodatabase implementation, the feature dataset Opbdys participates in a topology with the feature dataset MgmtParcels. A new feature dataset, StPrkMgmtParcels, is used to update MgmtParcels with the best available information, which is then relayed by OARPS to the Enterprise GIS Team as Land Ownership Records (LOR) in AutoCad MAP format. The publicly downloadable version of the boundaries dataset is a commonly used subset of the above. This dataset does not represent official or legal property boundary determinations or descriptions and is under continuous revision and subject to change without notice. <procdesc>The GIS versions of CSP boundary polygons do not represent official or legal boundary determinations or descriptions. The polygons are assembled by the CSP Enterprise GIS Team from the best available sources, including CSP Surveys Section data, County Assessor parcel data, historical departmental Land Ownership Record Maps, and USGS quads in both digital and hardcopy. The CSP Enterprise GIS Team converts the source data into digital geospatial data in shapefile, enterprise geodatabase, and Google Earth KMZ formats. Selected subsets of the data are compressed into ZIP format and posted on a public download site. Download content is subject to change without notice. Monitor www.ceres.ca.gov or other State of California data portal sites for the latest version of this dataset.</procdesc>

<edomvd>Park Units are areas owned in fee title or leased from other agencies. Park Units ending with a classification type (SP, SB, SHP, etc.) have been classified by the California Parks and Recreation Commission. <edomv>Natural Preserve</edomv>
<edomvd>Distinct, non-marine areas of outstanding natural or scientific significance established within the boundaries of other state park system units. The purpose of natural preserves shall be to preserve such features as rare or endangered plant and animal species and their supporting ecosystems, representative examples of plant or animal communities existing in California prior to the impact of civilization, geological features illustrative of geological processes, significant fossil occurrences or geological features of cultural or economic interest, or topographic features illustrative of representative or unique biogeographical patterns. Areas set aside as natural preserves shall be of sufficient size to allow, where possible, the natural dynamics of ecological interaction to continue without interference, and to provide, in all cases, a practicable management unit. Habitat manipulation shall be permitted only in those areas found by scientific analysis to require manipulation to preserve the species or associations that constitute the basis for the establishment of the natural preserve.</edomvd>

<edomv>State Wilderness</edomv>
<edomvd>Areas where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man and where man himself is a visitor who does not remain. A state wilderness if further defined to mean an area of relatively undeveloped state-owned or leased lands which has retained its primeval character and influence or has been substantially restored to a near-natural appearance, without permanent improvements or human habitation, other than semi-improved campgrounds, or structures which existed at the time of classification of the area as a state wilderness and which the State Park and Recreation Commission has determined may be maintained and used in a manner compatible with the preservation of the wilderness environment, or primitive latrines, which is protected and managed so as to preserve its natural conditions, and which: a) Appears generally to have been affected primarily by the forces of nature, with the imprint of man's work substantially unnoticeable., b) Has outstanding opportunities for solitude or a primitive and unconfined type of recreation, c) consists of at least 5,000 acres of land, either by itself or in combination with contiguous areas possessing wilderness characteristics, or is of sufficient size as to make practicable its preservation and use in an unimpaired condition. D) may also contain ecological, geological, or other features of scientific, educational, scenic, or historical value. State wildernesses may be established within the boundaries of other state park system units.</edomvd>

<edomv>Underwater Park Areas</edomv>
<edomvd>Areas of State Parks, leased from the State Lands Commission, or acquired in fee, and identified as underwater park areas. The term "underwater park has long been used informally by the Department and has appeared in many publications and documents. It has, however no official (legislative or administrative) basis or standing. These underwater parks do not have specific individual names; they are an integral part of the classified units in which they are situated. In 2000, the Legislature created five new unit classifications which apply only to underwater or marine areas. It is expected that, in the future most of the State Park System's "underwater parks" will receive one of these new classifications and thereby will become individual units separate from the units of which they are now a part.</edomvd>
