<descript>
A 1:100,000 polygon features class representing public, conservation and trust land ownership in the state of California. Developed for the California Resources Agency's Legacy Project, this dataset depicts ownership features as submitted by major public, trust, and non-profit groups in the state. PCTL05_2 is an update to the Legacy Project's PCTL05_1, PCTL04_1 and PCTL03_1 geographic datasets, which were built upon a prior effort by the USBR to map public lands. Contributors to past datasets were contacted with requests for any updated lands.

The changes to PCTL05_2 involved fixing a misalignment of the CA Dept. of Parks and Recreation data that occurred in the development of PCTL05_1.

Agencies that had ownership changes or boundary adjustments in PCTL05_1 were BLM (including NPS, USBR, and SLC), USFWS, CDFG, CDF, and CDPR. Major changes for the PCTL05_1 update included changes in data supplied by BLM. The changes were due to the agency's switch to a GCBD-based PLS. CDF, CDPR, USFWS, and CDFG also had minor changes.
<purpose>The California Legacy Project is an initiative by the California Resources Agency to help state agencies and the state's conservation partners make better decisions about how to conserve precious natural resources. This Public, Conservation and Trust Lands dataset is part of a number of geographic datasets developed for this initiative, and is intended to provide stakeholders in both the public and private sectors with a planning-level representation of ownership in California.</purpose>
<supplinf>THIS LAYER MUST NOT BE USED FOR PARCEL OR PROPERTY BOUNDARY MAPPING OR ANALYSIS. This version cannot be considered final, and is continually subject to review and update by contributing groups and/or agencies. It is intended to provide GENERAL ownership information for conservation and other planning purposes. This dataset was compiled by VESTRA Resources, Inc, under contract to the California Resources Agency.</supplinf>

<overview>
<eaover>There are five attribute fields that linked to tables housed in the personal geodatabase through a series of domains. They are linked by the numerical attribute fields which serve as the primary key for the respective tables. The fields and the counterpart tables are as follows:

OWNERCODE linked to CA_Owners table
ABBRVCODE linked to Owner_Abbrv table
MNGRCODE linked to CA_Mngrs table
MAINCODE linked to Maingroup table
OWNGRPCODE linked to OwnerGroup table</eaover>
